SPEND SUMMER AT CAMP!

Kitchen Manager and Lead Cook Position

 

A large non-profit is operating a camp in Wheeler County.  They need a person to plan meals, order food, and supervise the kitchen area. This person will also be the lead cook for the season.

Pay rate will be $90-$100/day depending on experience and certifications.  Room and Board are provided at no charge.

They also need a person to assist the lead cook. This person will have input with meal planning, but this person’s primary duty will be to prepare food.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Oversee meal preparation and daily operations of kitchen.

Responsible for nutritious meal planning for Outdoor School and Summer Science Camp’s which could have groups up to 110 participants.

Ensuring sustainable food practices, inventory control, food ordering, and daily prep task lists for camp cook.

Provide meal preparation/cooking support to the camp cook.

Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment that is in compliance with the Oregon Health Code and American Camp Association Standards.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Working knowledge of meal planning and preparation.

Maintaining a menu with balanced nutritious foods, that incorporates fresh foods in to each meal.

When possible the food should be made from scratch.

Demonstrated  knowledge  of kitchen tools and equipment  safety.

Working knowledge of menu planning and preparation for special dietary needs.

Working knowledge of budgeting and food purchasing

Strong customer service skills.

Ability to repurpose leftover food into new dishes.

Excellent coordination and project management skills, including the ability to work independently and manage time with minimal guidance.

Professional communication skills- oral and written.

Minimum of 2 years of cooking in commercial kitchens.

Must pass all pre-employment checks, such as criminal background check, reference checks, and American Camp Association (ACA) background check.

Must comply with the organization’s motor vehicle record policy.

Must be 18 years of age, and possess a valid Oregon Food Handlers Certificate and Driver’s License.

These positions need to be filled as soon as possible and will end in October.
